Brigtseer open gardens - Open meeting Friday 2nd Feb 6-7pm

16/1/2024

There will be a short meeting at the village hall on Friday 2nd February between 6-7pm to discuss Brigsteer Open Gardens to be held on 15/16th June 2024 and seek support and commitment for the organisation and running of the event.  This is our main fundraiser for the village hall, held every two years and this years focus will be on raising funds for solar panels on the hall.  This is not just for gardeners. It requires the whole community to make this event successful. We will be seeking volunteers to help with:

Gardeners willing to showcase their garden
Design and preparation of posters
Advertising
Signage of the event
Organising raffle prizes
Hosting tea shops
Baking cakes
Car parking volunteers
Teashop volunteers
Etc

So please come along to the hall on Friday 2nd February at 6pm where we will discuss the fundraiser and also have an opportunity to find out more about planned events e.g. Highlights.  We welcome your input. I hope many of you will choose to join in.
If you can’t make the meeting please contact me if you have any suggestions and are able to help in any way to make BOG a whole village event: [email protected]

Touki (“journey” in the Wolof language) is a tour de force in multi-instrumental musical exultation, during which the musicians joyously switch between kora (West African harp), banjos, guitars, percussion and other instruments, deploying powerful beats, driving grooves, and silky voices that leap from East to West Africa and across to America.
The influences are many, and rather than remaining in any one tradition, the Touki – the musical voyage itself – is the destination.
