So you think you know the Christmas Carol story? Bah!
It’s 1843 and as Christmas looms Mr. Dickens is about to publish his latest instalment of that tale. Mr Scrooge is in his office working desperately to tell his side of the story. This one-man show aims to put the record straight.

Mr.Dickens! Dead? As sure as the clothes moths in my wardrobe have be-shredded my best nightcap, Marley was not dead but rather sitting on some sun-soaked, off-shore beach squandering all the hard-earned money that he had so fraudulently embezzled from my firm over the years!  Dead? Bah!  You know nothing Mr. Dickens!  YOU are a fraud sir – an embezzler of the truth! A fake news-smith! A charlatan… Charlatan Dickens! Bah!”
In this revelatory exclusive, Ebeneezer Scrooge opens his Diary to expose the awful truth about Tiny Tim, Jacob Marley and the Fezziwigs;  how the Christmas ghosts of betrayal, fraud and bankruptcy have haunted him  … as he reveals the truth behind A Christmas Carol and exposes the vengeful, slanderous, upstart author of that novel.

The show is written and performed by Peter Macqueen who is no stranger to the role of  Ebeneezer Scrooge having play the part several times previously and even written a ‘Scrooge Column’, getting things off his chest in a weekly diary column in Cumbrian newspaper, The Keswick Reminder.  Peter is no stranger to rural touring either and has toured both his previous shows, Old Herbaceous and Professor of Adventure to village halls with Highlights Rural Touring Scheme.

Peter set up his touring company PMac Productions in 2013 with the aim of taking high quality, small-scale, theatrical productions out to the community. From his base in Cumbria he tours nationally but predominantly in the North. He was recently an associate company of Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, who supported the development of his previous shows.

Ruin someone’s Christmas and buy them a ticket!

The Hall will be laid out "cabaret style" with well separated household clusters and masks will have to be worn to comply with Covid secure conditions. As a consequence the audience will be limited to 25 and there will be no interval.

Tickets will be £8 – “An unmissable bargain” to quote E. Scrooge.

Of course this all depends on the current lockdown being lifted in time, so let a little optimism in and buy a ticket - before they all go.
