Brigsteer WI invite you to their next meeting which is open to all from 8pm on Wednesday 8th May in the Village Hall when we have Rebecca Corrie-close talking on 'The Importance of Biosecurity'
As well as being the new tenant of the National Trust farm at Lane End, Levens, and a director of the Horned Beef Company Ltd., Rebecca works for South Cumbria Rivers Trust and will be talking about her experience with invasive species in woodland and agriculture. Admission including refreshments £3. ‘BLODEUWEDD UNTOLD’ will be presented by Jo Blake (Cave) Thursday, 9 May at 7.30pm, in the Village Hall, Brigsteer.

Tales from the Arab world Told by DANIEL MORDEN. Next Wednesday,13th March,we have our very own Brigsteer resident talking to us about the Coniston Hydro Electric Power Scheme, which I'm sure will be of interest to many of you.
Our meeting starts at 7.30 with open house from 8pm followed by refreshments, and donations towards the cost will be very welcome JAN BLAKE!

Jan Blake gets right down to the business of what happens when we misjudge our elders. Meet the old women who aren’t so much aged, as ageless, and with the superpowers to match. Be so foolish as to underestimate them and you’ll get everything you deserve. Expect a dose of powerful geriatric magic, transformation and a good serving of comeuppance! Susan Millard, author of many books on horses and ponies, will reveal the History of Cumbria's Fell Ponies. Visitors are most welcome to join us. Stealing Thunder Storytellers return to the Village Hall, Brigsteer
on Thursday, 14 February at 7:30pm. Nick Hennessey will perform 'The Ruined House of Skin'. All welcome, tickets on the door (£8). We have arranged a training evening to learn about and update our skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of the defibrillator. Lauren Watson from North West Ambulance will lead the evening which will consist of a talk followed by 'hands on' training in the technique of CPR using resuscitation dummies.
The evening has been arranged primarily for the Village Emergency Telephone Service volunteers but is open to anyone who would like to attend as it is a skill that anyone of us could be called upon to use at any time. The training is on Thursday evening 31st January at 8.00pm at the village hall To give us some idea of numbers, could you please let us know by the end of next week if you would like to come. Don't forget the Lyth Valley photographs will be on display in the village hall from 12.00 midday to 6.00pm.
Judging will take place at 5.00pm. Brigsteer WI will be running a 'tea shop' throughout the afternoon.

Before our Stealing Thunder Storynight season begins in October, our friend Tim Dalling is bringing his brilliant show to Brigsteer! Aye, Coyote! Trickster Truths and a Tale of Two Brothers and the Dance for Joy Tea Shop will be open next Tuedsday, May 22nd, 2.00 to 4.00 pm in the Village Hall. Do come along for tea, coffee, delicious homemade cakes and a chat.
